Maintaining a healthy weight is not the easiest of tasks for many people. However, that’s not to say there aren’t diet plans and fitness programmes out there which can help you slim and keep you on track for a healthy lifestyle. For Naomi Wyman, 44, weight was something she had personally struggled with for her whole life. “Even as a young child I remember the pressure not to put on weight, and I spent the next three decades having a negative relationship with food,” she said.
“It had got to the stage that once I started eating I’d continue until either there was nothing left or I felt physically sick.
“For me, there was no such thing as moderation.”
Weighing in at 17 stone and 12 pounds, she decided it was time to make a change.
But, as Naomi sat in a slimming class, she realised that in her mind, she was sabotaging every single healthy message being offered to her.
Reflecting on how it made her feel, she continued: “I suddenly recognised these old familiar patterns and I knew this had to be the last time I would treat myself this way.”
But, rather than ditching her latest weight loss attempt altogether, Naomi remembered the time she lost three stone consistently and quickly using Foodpacks with LighterLife, 10 years ago.
Aware that if she could feel the difference in her slimmer figure, she may have an incentive to maintain her healthier weight, Naomi said the prospect “ignited a tiny flame of hope”.
In March 2018 she attended her first group session with the slimming company, and began the Total very-low-calorie diet (VLCD) plan.
Once again, she used the Foodpacks, tucking into Porridge, Toffee Bar or Chocolate Mug Cake at breakfast time, and soup at lunch.
Dinner time would typically see her enjoy Spaghetti Bolognese, followed by a Chocolate Raisin Bar.
And, as her weight started to drop, Naomi’s self-esteem soared.
Regularly attending her local LighterLife group meetings, the 44-year-old also received help though cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) activities which Catherine Cochran, the local LightLife Counsellor offered her.
Fast forward eight months and Naomi had slimmed by eight stone and eight pounds to a much healthier nine stone and four pounds.
And, her slimming efforts have also seen her up her exercise too – with Naomi now going kick-boxing on a weekly basis.
“Losing more than eight stone has been life-changing for me and my family,” she said.
“I now do kick-boxing every week, something I could only have dreamed of doing just a year ago.”
