
INDIANAPOLIS — Small-scale farmers can learn about soil health management at an upcoming workshop Nov. 30.
The Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting nutrient management training and a farmer-led discussion. Nathan Boone of Boone Family Farms and Dan Perkins of Perkins’ Good Earth Farm will share their stories.
Farmers can learn about soil and crop suitability, soil testing, nutrient budgeting, fertility, crop rotation and cover crops, compost, manure, soil amendments and fertilizers.
Experienced farmers will share considerations for sourcing, time management, costs and benefits. The cost to attend is $8 and includes lunch.
Seats are limited. The deadline to register is Nov. 15.
