MANCHESTER — At least 60 people attended a food talk and demonstration at the Manchester Community Library on the evening of Feb. 7, an event aimed at teaching people how to prepare meals that can keep heart disease at bay.
“Cooking with Your Heart,” sponsored by Southwestern Vermont Health Care, showed participants how to make healthy and delicious dishes: cauliflower and broccoli-crust pizza, vegan chili and a strawberry dessert.
Presenters included several SVHC staff members: Kristin Irace, a registered dietitian; Laura LaCroix, executive chef; as well as Alison Malmborg and Jennifer Thuermer, cardiac-care nurse practitioners.
The free, public event was part of SVHC’s observance of the American Heart Association’s Heart Month in February.
