A new trend is popping up in Southwest Missouri that is bridging the gap between fast food and healthy food.
"By the time I get home at night that's the last thing I want to do is think about what I'm going to make for dinner,” says Tricia Douglas, Fit Foods owner.
New businesses in Southwest Missouri are helping people with busy schedules worry less about food preparation. Fit foods strictly caters to online orders as staff members cook and deliver meals for convenient eating with healthy benefits.
"We really try to attract all different types of people that are needing food made for them whether that's busy parents or older people that's just going to cook for one person,” says Tricia Douglas.
"Back in November, whenever I decided to make a life change myself, like there wasn't anything I could go grab myself,” says Jon Buck, WorkFresh owner.
WorkFresh, another Southwest Missouri business located on East 7th Street, offers online meal prep services for the average on-the-go joe, but also offers another option for someone who needs a quick bite to eat.
"Our Grab-n-Go's, so we wanted to try to make it as accessible as possible for people to come grab some meals,” says Jon Buck.
Both business owners stressing that no matter how you exercise, food is the most important to a healthy lifestyle.
"People will come to the gym and they don't have a problem working out. They'll do that all the time. It's the food that is their biggest struggle, and I tell people it's about 80 percent success is your food,” says Tricia Douglas.
"It is. Food is fuel and you know it's the best mess or the worst poison you put in your body, and a lot of people don't understand what they put into their body everyday,” says Jon Buck.
