Grain and pulse processor Healthy Food Ingredients (HFI) has installed two new specialty mills at its facilities in Valley City, ND and Watertown, SD as part of an effort to vertically integrate the company.
The new mill in Valley City will enable the company to process a variety of gluten-free pulses, ancient grains, and seeds into custom-milled flours.
“With the addition of our allergen-free mill in Valley City, ND, we are meeting the needs of our customers, including micro-reduction processing under our IntegriPure brand,” Jay Johnson, chief operating officer for HFI, said in a recent company release announcing the addition of the assets.
He added: “This mill provides complete vertical integration under the HFI portfolio. We manage each step, beginning with our sustainable supply chain, to deliver food safety assurance with traceability.”
HFI’s additional mill in Watertown will expand the variety of cereal grain ingredients produced in the facility, including whole, finely milled, and blended products. The site currently processes clean label cereal grains.
“We are pleased to create a more diverse offering of cereal grain ingredient options to meet the growing demand from manufacturers with our enhanced milling opportunities,” Johnson said.
