Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a good time to be reminded that what we eat may help ward off diseases like cancer. Good nutrition is important.
To help support those who want to learn more about the relationship between nutrition and breast cancer, Henry Ford Health Systems LiveWell program and Kroger are offering a grocery store tour.
The tour is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and led by Dr. Lisa Newman, a renowned breast cancer surgeon and director of the breast cancer program at Henry Ford Cancer Institute and Andrea Thelen, a registered dietitian.
The tour is for everyone, whether you are in treatment, a survivor or looking for breast cancer prevention advice. They’ll cover reading and understanding food labels, how food ingredients relate to health, nutrient-rich foods for health, special diets and dietary needs during treatment and money-saving tips.
The tour takes place at the Kroger at 15255 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn. The cost to register is $15 with each participant receiving a $10 Kroger gift card. In addition, the fee supports Henry Ford’s Game On Cancer which provides financial assistance and services to help cancer patients.
