With the start of spring, this month it is all about making a fresh start and including more fruits and vegetables into your lifestyle. Very few Americans — in fact less than 20 percent of them — consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables each day. Avocados are actually a fruit. They are in the berry family, but we eat them more like a vegetable in savory dishes. They contain heart-healthy fats, folate and potassium along with many other vitamins and minerals. If fact, just topping your burger with avocado or guacamole makes your meal a little better for you. According to a study, individuals who ate a burger topped with avocado had decreased vasoconstriction in their blood vessels than individuals who ate the burger alone without avocado.
