SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) – Can taking cinnamon supplements lower your blood sugar?
A number of supplements claim to help lower blood sugar levels and cut the risk of heart attack for people with diabetes.
But, cinnamon, is getting the most attention.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, in a small study, 30 people with type two diabetes took cinnamon supplements each day, while 30 others took a placebo.
After 40 days, everyone who took cinnamon had lower glucose and cholesterol levels.
The placebo group saw no change.
Even though this study and others have promising results, there isn’t enough evidence to recommend cinnamon to people with diabetes for medicinal purposes.
