Loss of sex drive or libido can be caused by a number of things, including relationship issues, stress or tireless, or sometimes an underlying medical problem.
But it’s important to note there’s no such thing as a ‘normal’ libido because everybody’s sex drive is different.
If you have persistent low libido it’s important you visit your GP.
But some health experts say taking a particular supplement can improve a person’s sexual desire and performance.
Horny goat weed is another name for the epimedium or barrenwort plant.
The history and naming of the plant is said to stem from a goat herder hundreds of years ago.
Horny goat weed has been used as an aphrodisiac to aid with sexual desire and performance in both men and women, according to Holland & Barrett nutritionist Hannah Moffit.
She told Express.co.uk: “It may also aid with stimulating sensory nerves, thereby increasing satisfaction during sexual intercourse.
“However, as with all health issues, if your low libido persists it’s important to visit your GP.”
Hannah recommends Holland & Barrett Horney Goat Weed.
Vaginal dryness can impact women of all ages, not just those going through the menopause. This can cause discomfort during sex which can then lead to difficulty feeling aroused or reaching orgasm.
Hannah said: “As well as having a beneficial impact on libido, horny goat weed has been used anecdotally for helping with arousal. However, omega 7 or sea buckthorn oil can be natural remedies as they may improve the health of the mucous membranes.”
Hannah recommends Pharma Nord Omega 7 Sea Buckthorn Oil.
Fireworks in the bedroom
Improving your sexual health will naturally lead you to better orgasm, but, there are changes you can make to your diet to optimise your chances of seeing stars.
Hannah said: “When you eat asparagus it produces histamine in the body which may lead to more frequent orgasms and a better chance of orgasm during intercourse.
“You can also add more nutrients to your diet, as omega 3, which is found in fish, may aid with arousal and blood flow to those important areas.
“This may increase the sensitivity and sensation during intercourse leading to a better chance of orgasm – look at consuming at least two to three portions of oily fish a week or take a supplement.”
Hannah recommends Holland & Barrett Omega 3 Fish Oil Concentrate.
