ADELE’s astonishing seven stone weight loss was evident for all to see in her celebratory 32nd birthday snap.
The new Adele — with a tiny waist and endless legs — looked like a completely different person as she showcased her incredible body transformation earlier this month.
And many fans, desperate to follow in the singer’s footsteps, were left asking exactly how Adele managed to trim down.
Well, Adele’s former personal trainer, Pete Geracimo, has now revealed exactly how others can replicate Adele’s weight loss success.
That’s not to say that people should feel like they have to lose weight just because a celebrity did – but if Adele’s new look has inspired you, the good news is that Pete says that “transformations are really not that complicated.”
He told Insider: “All that is required is belief in yourself that you can do it, consistency in your actions, and discipline in your routine.”
In particular, Pete, says there are three simple steps to weight loss success which Adele would have followed during her weight loss journey…
1. Eating a well balanced & inclusive food plan
Pete says it is important steer clear from fad diets and focus on “real food and a health and varied eating lifestyle.”
He said: “I do not promote supplements, pills, powders, or potions. I prefer real food and a healthy and varied eating lifestyle. It is easier than you think.”
Adele is said to have been trying out The Sirtfood Diet, which encourages slimmers to eat plant foods such as kale and buckweat.
These foods, known as sirtuin activators, suppress appetite and activate the body’s “skinny gene”.
Sirtuin activators are also believed to protect cells in the body from dying under stress and meant to regulate inflammation, metabolism and the ageing process.
The Sirtfood diet allows slimmers to eat dark chocolate and drink red wine, as they are high in sirtuins.
2. Exercising regularly
Pete says that if you want to lose weight it’s extremely important to get your heart rate up, and go outside of your comfort zone.
However, he adds that exercise should be enjoyable and that “there is no sense in forcing someone to do something if there is no joy in it — that’s torture.”
Pete says he used to train Adele two to three times a week and her workouts were diverse.
“Training sessions always varied from bodyweight and resistance band work to weight training and boxing,” he said. “I would also throw in cardio challenges just to keep her on her toes.”
The Sun revealed last year that the hitmaker had taken up reformer pilates with pal Ayda Field.
And she has also been secretly been following Joe’s high intensity workout videos, which have become the nation’s favourite way to keep fit during lockdown.
3. Getting proper restful sleep
Getting a good sleep to allow your body and mind to repair and recover, is key if you want to shed the pounds – according to Adele’s former PT.
This is because sleep affects two “hunger hormones”– ghrelin and leptin.
Ghrelin is released after the brain signals the stomach is empty, while leptin is released from fat cells to suppress hunger – and tell the brain it’s full.
But, when you don’t get enough kip, the body makes more ghrelin and less leptin – leaving you hungry and increasing your appetite.
Finally, Pete says that the most important thing to remember on any fitness journey is not to rush the process.
In particular, he says to anyone wanting to make healthy changes to themselves is to be fully committed to the whole process and to be patient.
Pete recently defended Adele’s weight loss on Instagram – saying her body transformation was never about being “super skinny”.
He wrote: “As Adele’s former London-based personal trainer, it’s disheartening to read negative commentary and fat-phobic accusations questioning the genuineness of her amazing weight loss.
“In my personal experience of working with her through many highs and lows, she always marched to the beat of her own drum on her own terms.
“She never undermined her God-given talent by reducing herself to expose her flesh or be the over the top sexy vixen to sell albums. She let her voice do the talking, or should I say singing!
